Marcia K. Thompson, Esq.
Marcia K. Thompson brings over 20 years of experience working in corporate and public sector positions that have helped to transform and create collaborative environments for employees at all levels. Marcia has a background as an attorney, mediator, ombudsperson, fact-finder, leadership and conflict coach, trainer, facilitator, professor, and conflict management practitioner and consultant. She has received numerous mediator certifications including the Virginia Supreme Court, and has mentor status. She has also completed formal coaching training through the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Marcia is well versed in creating custom solutions for her clients; she has conducted organizational analysis, focus groups, surveys, and administered various assessments and tools to identify strengths and areas of growth for organizations and individuals.
Marcia enjoys creating and providing training and was a professor for many years teaching undergraduate and graduate level legal, conflict resolution, and justice courses. To further her passion for training, she often lectures, and does workshops in the areas of conflict resolution, human resources, leadership skills, management development, coaching, communication, engagement, diversity/implicit bias, collaborative problem solving, team-building, assertiveness, workplace investigations, civil rights, employment law, as well as other topics. Over the years, Marcia has often served as a keynote speaker on leadership and other topics.
Prior to practicing law, Marcia worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as an Intelligence Research Specialist. In that capacity she had a variety of assignments and responsibilities including serving as a collateral duty EEO counselor. Marcia is a U.S. EEOC trained workplace investigator and has also worked as a Federal Hearing Officer, Ombudsperson and non-profit General Counsel as well as a litigator in Virginia.
Marcia graduated from George Mason University School of Law and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
